Home Heating FAQs

Which areas do you deliver to?

RDP provides home heating diesel throughout major South Island centres including Christchurch, Timaru, Dunedin, Invercargill, Nelson, Marlborough, Queenstown, Wanaka, and Cromwell. If you’re just outside these zones, contact our dispatch team — we’re often able to reach nearby rural addresses.

Do you need to drive onto my property to refill my tank?

Usually not. Our mini tankers are equipped with long hoses, which means we can often fill your tank from the roadside or driveway entrance. This keeps your property safer and prevents unnecessary wear on driveways and lawns.

How do I order or set up a heating account?

You can order by phone, email, or apply online for a Home Heating Account. Once approved, deliveries can be scheduled on a set rotation or requested as needed. Our operations team will confirm your delivery date and provide updates along the way.

How does RDP manage home heating deliveries?

Deliveries are managed by a GPS-tracked mini tanker fleet through our central dispatch system. This allows for efficient route planning, clear communication, and consistent service even during the busy winter period.

What payment options are available?

Home heating accounts are billed monthly through direct debit. Each invoice lists your delivery dates, volumes, and pricing for transparency.

What if access is blocked or weather is bad?

If we can’t safely access your property, we’ll contact you to reschedule or adjust the delivery. Communication is key — letting us know early about access issues helps us plan an alternative solution quickly.

Can I set up automatic deliveries?

Yes. Once we know your average usage and tank capacity, we can establish a delivery schedule that prevents your tank from running low during peak winter months.

How does RDP ensure safety during delivery?

All home heating drivers are trained in safe handling and property access procedures. Each tanker is equipped with spill prevention and emergency shutdown systems, and our team conducts regular safety checks on equipment.

What makes RDP’s home heating service different?

We focus on safety, access, and reliability. Our long-reach hoses mean easier delivery, and our locally based drivers know the terrain. It’s a service built around real South Island conditions and customer needs.
