Every Thursday, we're handing the camera over to the people who know our roads best, our drivers. Each week one of the team sends in their favourite shot from a delivery, and we share it here along with a bit about where it was taken and what they were up to.
This week's shot comes from Mike, crossing the riverbed near Rakaia Gorge.
Driver: Mike
Route/Location: Rakaia Gorge, Canterbury
Delivery: Fuel transport
Mike caught this one mid-crossing, easing the truck through shallow water on the riverbed with the Southern Alps lined up on the horizon. Runs out through the Rakaia Gorge sometimes mean taking the truck across the riverbed itself, a reminder that not every delivery sticks to sealed roads.
It's a good example of the kind of terrain our drivers handle to keep rural Canterbury properties supplied, wide open braided rivers included.
